Cedar Fort is on U-73 west of the north end of Utah Lake and four and one-half miles north ofFairfield. The abundance of cedar trees suggested the name. On January 5, 1856, by legislative act, the settlements of Cedar Valley were organized into a county with Cedar Fort as the county seat, The entire area was later absorbed into Utah County.
